Metta Meditation - A practice of connection
LIVE-STREAM LOVING KINDNESS MEDITATION
This 45 minutes class explores the ancient practice of Mettā (in Pali), which means Loving Kindness.
Don’t be fooled by the odd name. Mettā is a powerful tool, potentially even a game changer for all of us. You can think of it as a practice of connection, a way of cultivating a friendly, caring attitude towards ourselves first, and opening this up to others.
In order to achieve that, you will be guided to repeat phrases that carry the intention to be well, in body and mind, to feel grounded, loved and connected.
Sometimes supported by visualisation, Mettā meditation is known to open our hearts and increase self-compassion, among its many benefits. Don’t take it from me, here’s one of many articles that shares findings of multiple thorough studies that will inform you about the physiological, relational and social benefits of Mettā Meditation.
Quick tip: you don't need to be on camera to participate, although it's nice to see your face to say hi when you get into the virtual room.
Other tip: Loving Kindness is an amazing practice, and once you've got the basics down, you get to take its benefits away with you. That’s exactly what I did, actually, after my first class. But I’m here to offer you context and answer your questions.
Final tip: this is an amazing and transformational form of meditation. Caveat: it only works if you show up and do it regularly. Imagine how powerful it would be if you did this every day?
Are you up for the challenge?
