Eastern Sierras Lake Hike - California
This event is free to attend, with optional donations welcomed.
Join California TVOP volunteers Alex and Nora for an epic out and back adventure! This 7.7 mile hike travels up one of the most stunning valleys in the Eastern Sierras, with the highest elevation point at just under 11,000 feet, and a 730 ft elevation gain. We'll see stunning views of multiple peaks, and pass alongside six distinct alpine lakes.
For this 7+ mile hike above 10,000 feet, you’ll need to bring a well-fitted daypack stocked with essentials like 2–3 liters of water, a hydration bladder or water bottle, and electrolyte tablets or drink mix. Pack a hearty lunch—think a wrap with hummus or turkey, hard cheese with crackers, or a peanut butter and banana sandwich—along with high-energy snacks like trail mix, dried fruit, energy bars, jerky, and a piece of fresh fruit. Dress in moisture-wicking base layers, an insulating mid-layer, and a lightweight wind or rain jacket. Don’t forget a sun hat, sunglasses, buff or neck gaiter, and sturdy hiking boots or hiking sandals with good traction. Bring sunscreen, SPF lip balm, bug spray or a bug net, and a small first aid kit including blister care and any personal medications. Trekking poles are highly recommended, especially on steep or rocky sections. Carry a fully charged phone on airplane mode, a headlamp with extra batteries.
We ask folks under the age of 18 to please register themselves and an adult to accompany them. This event is intended for the LGBTQ+ community. If you require a service dog to attend, please let us know and we’ll collaborate with you on how to keep you both comfortable and hydrated on the hike.
