Why It Matters: Data, Apps, and Policy Through a Youth Lens
This session brings the Safe School Hub Inc. to the Black Innovation Zone centre stage. This platform is built by and for communities demanding safety, dignity, and accountability in BC’s education system.
From youth advocates to parent organisers, this conversation dives deep into how Black communities are using technology, data, and policy to reshape school culture across the province.
Led by Brian Seremba, Co-Founder of BC Community Alliance and Founder of Safe School Hub Inc., the programme starts with a keynote and demo video by youth ambassador Marie, who walks the audience through how the app works in under 2 minutes with clear, confident, and community-rooted. This is followed by a panel and lightning round with audience engagement.

How This Supports the Mission
This session also formally introduces the Safe School Hub Data Governance Committee, a new initiative bringing youth, parents, and experts together to ensure the platform stays mission-locked and community-accountable.
It’s not just about launching a product. It’s about launching a system of co-governance rooted in lived experience.
