GALLERY WEEKEND 2025 ART WALK 8: Charlottenburg II (Eng.)
Join our art historians and art experts on exclusive guided tours through selected galleries. The Art Walks offer unique insights into current exhibitions, exciting artistic positions, and curatorial concepts.
Susanne Burmehl leads this Art Walk through three standout galleries in Charlottenburg. Société presents Charades, a new solo exhibition by British-Croatian artist Marianna Simnett. At its center is an AI-generated video that reimagines the myth of Leda and the Swan as a surreal power play, where Zeus appears as a puppet controlled by Leda herself. Upstairs, a group show explores the theme of “Entropy,” featuring works by around twenty artists. Galerie Max Hetzler spans two locations in Charlottenburg: on Goethestraße, Leilah Babirye shows powerful sculptures that draw on queer identity and Uganda’s precolonial clan systems; on Bleibtreustraße, Sergey Kononov presents luminous, contemplative paintings full of quiet intensity. The walk concludes at Galerie Michael Haas with early and late works by Arnulf Rainer—layered, gestural paintings from a master of the Informel that invite deep reflection.
