AI, Growth and Public Value - A Conversation with OpenAI Chief Economist
Artificial intelligence is reshaping productivity, workforce participation and long-term economic growth, raising urgent questions about how prosperity is created and shared. In this workshop, participants will hear directly from Dr Aaron “Ronnie” Chatterji, Chief Economist at OpenAI and former senior White House economic official, on how governments worldwide are approaching AI, how industry policy is evolving, and how the public sector can harness AI to improve service delivery and national productivity. A wide-ranging presentation and open Q&A will create space for cross-disciplinary dialogue on the opportunities and challenges of this new economic era, and how we might deliver more inclusive, sustainable outcomes.
Dr Chatterji is Chief Economist at OpenAI and a professor at Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business. He previously served as White House CHIPS Coordinator, Acting Deputy Director of the National Economic Council, Chief Economist at the US Department of Commerce, and senior economist on President Obama’s Council of Economic Advisers. His current research focuses on AI-driven workforce transformation, global growth and economic resilience, offering practical insights for leaders seeking to harness AI for broad-based prosperity.
