🟡 The Electrifying Truth of Building Electrification: The tech is here, so what's stopping us?
This event is part of The Drop 2024. To attend, you must have a ticket to The Drop. Apply for a Drop 2024 ticket.
Session Overview: Though we all live and work in buildings, most of us don't understand the underbelly of electrification. We will explore what makes electrification hard, from the powerful corporates (utilities, oil, and gas) to the challenging regulatory environment and missing incentives. Though we will survey the tech and surface what's missing, innovation is not what's holding us back. What and who needs to change, and how can we catalyze all of it? Calling all built environment founders and investors, gov and utility employees, real estate owners, EPCs, and builders/architects.
Key Questions:
What critical innovations are still needed to electrify, cost-effectively, from appliances to power management software to the grid?
How are the utilities slowing down the movement, and how can we co-opt or bypass them altogether?
Who is going to pay for all of this and how can we increase incentives?
What will it take for REITS and landlords to embrace electrification?
Are VPPs the grail to make electrification self-sufficient?
How will the grid need to evolve?
Who should attend? All of us but specifically built environment founders/investors, gov and utility workers, builders (construction and architects), and Real estate owners (REITS and landlords). Want reps from the West, the East, and the Global South.
