Agenda:

  • 6:00 – 6:15 pm – Welcome

A short hello and introduction.

  • 6:15 – 6:30 pm - Eliminating the "Runs on My Machine" Problem: A Developer's Guide (Ivan Burazin)

As a developer, novice or skilled, setting up your environment and dependencies is a common problem. More often than not, you run into the "runs on my machine" issue. Rid yourself of this problem once and for all and focus on what you do best - code.

  • 6:30 pm - 6:50 pm - Trends Shaping the Software Engineering Market in 2024 (Yahya ElAraby)

In today's tech market, many companies are integrating AI into their solutions. The ability to provide these advanced technologies relies on having skilled engineers with strong foundational knowledge in software engineering. A critical area for software engineers to master is system design and architecture, which involves creating blueprints for scalable, maintainable, and efficient systems. Two significant architectural patterns in this field are micro-frontends and microservices. Micro-frontends extend the concept of microservices to the front end, enabling independent development and deployment of different parts of the application. Microservices, meanwhile, break down a monolithic backend into smaller, loosely coupled services that communicate through APIs, Queues, gRPC, or Message Brokers. Incorporating AI tools into microservices and micro-frontends architectures can greatly enhance development productivity. These AI tools automate repetitive tasks such as code generation, testing, and deployment, allowing developers to concentrate on more complex and innovative aspects of software development. In career development for a software engineer, it is crucial not to focus solely on AI advancements. Equally important is a strong grasp of fundamental software engineering concepts. Building a robust foundation in system design, architecture, and core engineering principles enables engineers to effectively leverage AI and other advanced technologies. This balanced approach ensures a comprehensive skill set that supports sustainable growth and innovation in the tech industry.

In this Q&A session among other interesting tech topics, we will talk about current trends in open source and AI and how are members of Egypt's tech ecosystem following those trends.
