Who’s really speaking in your poem?
In this reflective, generative session, writing coach Ash Wylder invites you to explore the layered voices within your work—the parts that protect, perform, ache, or quietly wait to be heard. Through gentle breath work, guided writing, and poetic inquiry, you’ll begin to recognize the inner voices shaping your language— and leave with a draft of a poem that longs to be listened to more closely.
Writers will leave with:
A deeper understanding of how different parts of the self show up in writing
A felt experience of writing with your inner voice(s), not around them
A new way to approach revision: Who’s really speaking in this line?
Tools to support honest, sustainable, self-aware writing
3 take-home prompts to continue the work after the session
Participants should bring:
A notebook or open doc
Curiosity, breath, and a willingness to write something true
(Optional) A draft of a poem that sparks confusion or curiosity
About Ash Wylder
Born in Minnesota, Ash Wylder now lives on the bank of the Columbia River in Southern Washington, surrounded by wilderness and wind. Ash wrote in order to make sense of the world. She has a run-amok imagination that has helped her publish her work under a pen name since 2010. She has taught groups of 250 people and performed improvised storytelling and rehearsed performance pieces since 2008. Her teaching style is fluid because people grow in a thousand different ways.
