Take Me to the Water | Monica Jahan Bose
This exhibit is an immersive experience of the impacts of water, climate change, and creativity with new works by Monica Jahan Bose.
Take Me to the Water is a multi-layered collaborative art and advocacy project that uses woodblock prints on saris, embroidered Kantha, works on paper, and documented performance to empower communities to address climate justice in solidarity with the women of Katakhali Village, an island community in Bangladesh on the frontlines of climate change.
Artist and climate activist, Monica Jahan Bose, whose maternal roots are in Katakhali, created Story Telling with Saris in 2012 by collaborating with 12 women from Katakhali who have acquired literacy and climate adaptation skills and are valiantly fighting climate change, despite losing their homes after repeated severe cyclones.
