Public Dharma Talk Series on the “Heart Sutra” by Guo Gu

Since 2023, GuoGu has been offering a series of talks on the Heart Sutra, one of the shortest Mahayana scriptures that expound the core message of Buddhism. The Heart Sutra is also one of the most important scriptures in the Chan/Zen tradition. The series will continue every first Monday of each month into 2024. Each talk will be independent, but we encourage you and your friends to attend all sessions. During these Monday sits, we will begin with a short period of meditation followed by the Dharma talk. There will be opportunity to ask questions and to socialize a bit after the talk. We also have a monthly student discussion group about each month’s talk. More information at the bottom of this page.

Time: 6:30pm – 8:00pm Eastern

Location: Meets In Person at the Tallahassee Chan Center or streamed live on Zoom using the usual Monday night Zoom link.

Recordings

Discussion Group

To extend and deepen the learning and practice from the Heart Sutra lecture series, the Tallahassee Chan Center is organizing a series of discussion groups for students to connect and share in the learning process together on the 3rd Sunday of each month at 1PM EDT

To join the discussion groups, please use this Zoom link. We will also make announcements during lectures and send e-mail reminders ahead of each month’s sessions.

The purpose of these group sessions is to build community and discuss experiences with applying the methods taught in the lectures and associated guided meditations. Facilitators will guide each session to ensure everyone has the chance to share and discussion follows the principles of practice. We encourage all interested students to attend.
