🎤 About Our Speakers
Rooshy Roy is the Founder & CEO of AAVRANI, the Indian-inspired beauty brand. As a first generation Indian-American, she would often make her own beauty treatments at home with her mom, who showed Rooshy how to harness the power of raw ingredients—like turmeric & honey—to maintain healthy skin and hair.
As an adult searching for an easier way to access those Ayurvedic formulas, Rooshy was inspired to create her own ready-to-use products. AAVRANI combines generational wisdom with cutting-edge innovation to deliver clinically-proven results. Rooshy went to Indiana University and graduated with an MBA from Wharton in 2019. She is listed in 2020’s Forbes 30 Under 30 in the Retail & E-Commerce category for her work on AAVRANI.
Tara Hankinson, the co-founder of TALEA Beer Co., grew up immersed in the wine and hospitality industry. After graduating from Bucknell University, Tara moved to New York City to work in philanthropy and later received her MBA from NYU while pursuing an interest in wine. Post-MBA, before starting a job in management consulting, Tara spent the summer working at Wölffer Estate in the Hamptons.
At Wölffer, Tara realized no beer companies were speaking to customers like her the way wineries and other brands were. While working corporate jobs at PricewaterhouseCoopers and The New York Times, Tara homebrewed, and it wasn’t long until she joined the beer startup, Hopsy, where she met her future TALEA co-founder, LeAnn Darland.
The two quickly formed a bond and discovered a mutual passion for creating a brewery that expands the craft beer market "beyond the beer bros." TALEA Beer Co.'s first beer was released in 2019 with their flagship brewery and taproom in Williamsburg, Brooklyn opening in 2021. They now have three (soon to be four!) additional taprooms across Cobble Hill, West Village, and Bryant Park and are found in thousands of retailers across NY State including Trader Joe's, Whole Foods, Michelin-starred restaurants, and cocktail bars.
