About Event

Topic: Exploring the Future of "Chinese Elements" in the U.S. Climate Initiatives and Fostering Climate Communication in an Unprecedented Era.

Agenda: This event is hosted by the Institute for China-America Studies (ICAS) during DC Climate Week. This event will bring together stakeholders from think tanks, universities, international organizations, and the private sector to discuss the future of U.S.–China climate communication. It will include a one-hour panel discussion with Q&A, followed by a happy hour for networking.

Description: The future of U.S.–China climate cooperation is facing new uncertainty since 2025. Nevertheless, as “Chinese elements” continue to emerge in U.S.-based climate efforts, there is growing interest in how these perspectives contribute to future initiatives. What will meaningful bilateral engagement look like moving forward? Can subnational level cooperation and private-sector partnerships take the lead where formal diplomacy stalls? What new climate-related topics are worth exploring—and which should be set aside? How might shifts in this bilateral relationship affect climate finance and initiatives in emerging markets? And for professionals entering the field today, what is the long-term outlook—why do we continue, and what keeps this work relevant? This event aims to serve as a platform in building a cross-sector community around shared climate goals in the DC area, and aims to explore why these connections still matter today.

*This is a closed-door, in-person event, but all interested participants are welcome to register and attend.
