This is your invite to a three day hackathon activating New York via Hackbox.
Understanding NYC problems, and Sparking progress.
Creating real impact on the lives of humans in our city.
Competition, collaborations, workshops, learn-to-earn, and other spooky fun activities!

Building in the following Tracks:

Community and cause engagement:
designs that incentivize bringing people together virtually but especially IRL to care about improving aspects of their local neighborhoods.

Environmental sustainability:
Solutions for a cleaner, more pedestrian friendly, nature-immersed, and less polluted New York. 

Housing, Transportation, and Urban Development:
Tools to deal with rising housing uncertainty and food insecurity.

Education and Financial Inclusion/Literacy:
Enhance access to knowledge for communities, especially underrepresented ones, to support themselves emotionally, mentally, and financially. 

Open Web Technology and Artificial Intelligence:
Creating civic tools that will aid in addressing above issues.

Buildathon Specific Support


Event Organizers:

Liberty DAO, a collaborative support system for builders (developers, creators, educators, founders) doing work with the local New York community. Empowering New Yorkers to reclaim ownership over their digital identity, enhance authentic physical connections, increase financial and technical literacy, fuel civic collaboration, and prepare for the next generation of technological evolution by educating, adopting, and expanding civic catalogs of open web tools like the Blockchain OS (BOS) and more.

NEAR NYC is the official NEAR Protocol community of NYC that emphasizes IRL technical, educational, and social gatherings. NEAR is a collective, a foundation, and a development platform built on a new layer-one blockchain. Through simple, secure, and scalable technology, NEAR empowers millions to invent and explore new experiences. Business, creativity, and community are being reimagined for a more sustainable and inclusive future.

submissions must show demos IRL on the 28th at 3 pm EST.
