Details
πŸ“ Date: July 30, 2024, at 5:00 PM πŸ•

β€‹πŸ“ Venue: Northeastern University - Vancouver

This event is the perfect opportunity to dive into the world of cloud-native technologies while mingling with fellow tech enthusiasts.

Who should attend πŸ§‘πŸ»β€πŸ€πŸ»β€πŸ§‘πŸ»

Agenda πŸ“–

  • 5:00 to 5:30 PM: Our volunteers will guide the guests to the room and you'll be received with free food & drinks 🍲, feel free to start eating and networking as soon as you arrive!

  • 5:30 PM to 5:35 PM: Host introduction and sponsors shoutout.

  • 5:35 PM to 6:05 PM: Predictive Autoscaling using Keda and Facebook Prophet πŸ’

Autoscaling pods in Kubernetes is slow. HPA wasn't really built to react to sudden spikes in load. These bursts of traffic results in a drop in application performance and subsequently a drop in end user experience. We don't want that. What if we could proactively scale our pods in anticipation of load? Let's find out!

This topic is going to be presented to you by

  • 6:05 to 6:35 PM: Beyond dashboarding: the Grafana Observability Stack. πŸ‘€

Most people know Grafana for its visualization and dashboarding capabilities. Since its beginnings, it has grown to become the de-facto standard open source visualization for cloud-native observability. But there's more to the Grafana ecosystem: an entire MLT (metrics-logs-traces) observability stack now expanding beyond the three pillars.

This topic is going to be presented to you by

    • Niko Smeds, Senior Software Engineer @ Grafana

    • Callum Styan, Senior Software Engineer @ Grafana

  • 6:35 PM to 7:55 PM: TBD
