The Future of Tech Talent: Perspectives on DEI and Social Impact NY #TechWeek
New York’s tech sector is already far more diverse than other leading tech hubs – a 2022 report from the Center for an Urban Future and Tech:NYC found that Black and Hispanic New Yorkers make up 20.8% of New York’s tech sector workforce, compared to 8.5% in the San Francisco Bay Area and 9.7% in the Boston/Cambridge area. While this level of diversity represents a competitive advantage for New York, it is still a far way off from New York’s overall demographic numbers.
Join us for a discussion bringing together some of the organizations leading citywide efforts to foster a more equitable workforce. They will each share details on how their programs nurture diverse talent pools and discuss what’s still needed to sustain a more inclusive startup ecosystem in NYC.
Featuring:
Julie Samuels, President & CEO, Tech:NYC
Lisa Lewin, Partner, Primary VC
Jerelyn Rodriguez, Co-Founder & CEO, The Knowledge House
Justin Kang, General Partner, Visible Hands
Jonathan Bowles, Executive Director, Center for an Urban Future (moderator)
