Barry's Bio:
From startups to internal corporate innovation projects, I work with organizations using data and emerging trends to strategically move the needle. I have provided insight to dozens of corporate and venture-backed organizations (internal divisions, strategic partners, client bases, vendor networks), focusing on utilizing audience and market data to frame market opportunities, develop key performance indicators, and establish scaling factors in the business.
I have founded, managed, and grown multiple technology-based communities ranging from digital innovation labs and corporate partner ecosystems to cyber security breach teams and social media advocates. I've been in the 'startup scene' for over 20 years working from seed round accelerators to M&A due diligence for the F500. This included organizing real-world and digital events coaching hundreds of venture-backed startups, coordinating an innovation community with over 40,000 members, and co-founding one of the largest digital media clubs in the world.
My main focus typically targets partner growth, partner evangelism, technology integration, competitive intelligence, digital acquisition, cloud strategy, market research, and vendor network analysis programs. My responsibilities often deal with multiple partners handling specialty scenarios in industry niches behind closed doors, discovering and engaging new solutions for emerging problems.
Past projects and clients: Microsoft, Walmart, Amazon, Verizon, The Wall Street Journal, Dow Jones, DEMO, Beachbody, NIKE, REI, Onvia, TravelClick, TMP Worldwide, Monster.com, Intuit, and a variety of digital "start-up" projects.
As a speaker and author, I have presented digital innovation to worldwide audiences.
Shawn's Bio:
I began my career by solving an elegantly simple question: how do people find kindred spirits in the deluge of social media? My algorithm for vectorizing social graphs—developed before such approaches became commonplace—led me through a decade of digital innovation. Along the way, I've guided hundreds of businesses through the complexities of technical SEO and digital transformation, managing millions of dollars in strategic ad campaigns for clients ranging from local small businesses to Oracle and Amazon.
Now I focus on what fascinates me most: finding and nurturing the next generation of B2B artificial intelligence startups. Drawing on my computer science background, I help founders translate intricate technical solutions into clear market opportunities. I work closely with pre-revenue startups to shape both their products and their stories, then guide them through the crucial stages of fundraising and team building—essentially doing for others what I once wished someone had done for me.
Over fifteen years in marketing and product development have taught me that true innovation often lies in the synthesis of human insight and technological efficiency. I specialize in introducing data-driven systems and automation to already high-performing teams, helping them scale without losing their essential agility. This approach has proven particularly valuable in startup incubation, where the right balance of human creativity and technological leverage can mean the difference between mere survival and transformative success.
My career has been an intentional journey to understand every facet of building exceptional companies. This cross-functional expertise—from engineering and product development to marketing and revenue generation—has proven invaluable through multiple successful acquisitions and in driving hundreds of millions in revenue across various ventures. Now, I'm channeling this comprehensive experience into a singular mission: identifying and nurturing the next stable of unicorns. It's not just about finding promising startups; it's about building a portfolio of companies that can fundamentally transform their industries.
