Another new format this time for the evening, with Julian giving us a workshop on making 3D maps and data visualisation in Blender - free and open source software.
Learn the basic skills to get satellite data, topographic data and CSV data into Blender to create your own eye-popping 3D map of any place on the globe.
Important requirements so we can get moving with the fun stuff:-
1. Bring a laptop
2. Download Blender for free from www.blender.org/download and install it too
3. Create an OpenTopography account at portal.opentopography.org/requestService?service=api
4. Download the zip folder at github.com/domlysz/BlenderGIS and that's it, we'll install the addon in Blender during the workshop.
Here is a pdf explaining these steps in a little more detail.
