About Event

Join San Diego Green Drinks and Climate Collective San Diego (CCSD) to talk about building decarbonization! Green Drinks events are an opportunity to meet with fellow environmental and ocean enthusiasts and join the growing San Diego sustainability community. CCSD is a community organization founded to inspire San Diego to lead the fight against climate change and build a more sustainable future.

Building energy use contributes approximately 40% of San Diego’s greenhouse gas emissions according to the 2020 San Diego Climate Action Plan. Reducing these emissions is key to achieve a carbon neutral San Diego in an equitable and just manner, advancing all members of the San Diego community. Join us for a panel discussion on decarbonizing our city’s buildings with experts from Measurabl and the California Public Utilities Commission.

The panelists will discuss what building decarbonization is, what the role of the private, public, and non-profit sector in reducing building carbon emissions both in new and already existing buildings, new tech and policy solutions for measuring and reducing carbon emissions, and equity issues in achieving carbon emission reductions.

The goal of this panel is to inform all of us about this critical source of local greenhouse gas emissions and inspire action to help reduce those emissions.
