Quiet Kinky Bookclub
Description
Do you love reading kink non-fiction?
Do you want a peaceful space to meet kinky bookworms, read a book and share your discoveries with others?
Do you go to munches and social events wishing it was just a bit quieter?
That’s a yes? Well, come down to the Quiet Kinky Bookclub (QKB)!
Come together to say hello, silently read for 45 minutes and then chat with others about your book and how it relates to your kink journey. Whether you're new or experienced to the kink scene, bring along a kinky book, connect and enjoy a sensory-soothing social.
Schedule
2pm: Everyone arrives, says hello and settles into the space. Everyone is welcome to spread out or sit together, whatever is comfortable for you.
2:30pm - 3:15pm: Silent reading time, feel free to bring along your noise-cancelling earbuds, fidget or sensory tools to enjoy the quiet time.
3:15pm - 4pm: Silent reading is over. You’re welcome to chat to others, or keep reading silently, socialise how you feel comfortable!
Need some conversation ideas? Grab a bookclub question to get you started.
4pm: The event is over, we will tidy up the space and move onto a nearby cafe to keep chatting if needed.
What book do I bring?
BYO book. Non-fiction kink books can focus on things like:
kink scene and community
beginner kink principles and education
techniques and practical application guides
essays exploring kink concepts
role creation, development and maintenance
relationship skills and tools (for relating to yourself, friends, play partners and relationship styles like Ethical Non-monogamy)
While non-fiction is encouraged, if you can reflect on your kink practice and have thoughtful conversations about kink fiction (erotica, poetry, smut novels) then feel free! We don’t judge a conversation by it’s smutty cover!
Forgot to bring a book or need something new? Go check out the Hare & Hyena bookshop at the back of the centre and support a local LGBTQIA+ seller.
Audiobooks are books too! Listen with your earbuds on at an appropriate volume to keep the peace
