What to Expect:

β€‹πŸŒ† Capstone Presentations: Watch as each team presents their innovative solutions developed in partnership with industry leaders. The teams have delved into pressing issues in clean energy and are poised to present their findings on cutting-edge topics in the field.

β€‹πŸ“– Project Abstracts
Industry Host: The New York City Department of Buildings: Sustainability Bureau

Project: Aligning Local Laws 33, 84, and 97 by delivering a rating system for building energy use and emissions in NYC.
The New York City Department of Buildings (DOB)Β is the department of the New York City government that enforces the city's building codes and zoning regulations. The team became familiar with local laws that affect building energy use, reviewed datasets and interviewed stakeholders to understand issues emerging in data collection. They then generated a new rating system to help owners better understand the goals of LL84 and 97.Β

Industry Advisor: Margarett Jolly

Project: FERC 2222's impact on engagement for Distributed Energy Resources (DER) AggregatorsΒ
Margarett Jolly is the former Director of Research, Development, and Demonstration at Con Edison; soliciting, developing, demonstrating, and scaling technologies and innovative business models for grid management and grid edge technologies for grid connected citizens. The team crafted an overview for DER Aggregators to engage with various wholesale electricity markets with the goal of answering β€œIf I was a DER Aggregator in this specific ISO what would I need to do to participate technically and financially in this ISO after FERC 2222?”

Industry Advisor: Navajo Power

Project: Evaluating the market for residential solar / battery storage on tribal lands.Β
Navajo Power is the leading developer that possesses the necessary combination of technical expertise, cultural and linguistic aptitude, and access to capital to successfully develop utility-scale clean energy projects on the Navajo Nation and across Indian Country. The team worked with Navajo Power to identify tribes across the US that have a strong need for residential power. This analysis included costs of residential energy, regulatory policies, and prevalence of tribes and population. They then did a solar feasibility case study on their top recommended region.Β

β€‹πŸ€ Meet the Cohort: Connect with a dynamic group of mid-career professionals, each bringing diverse expertise and a shared passion for the clean energy transition. This is a unique opportunity to network with individuals actively seeking to make an impact in the clean energy sector.
