Body Autonomy & Choreography
Taught by: Christie Kerr — Director, Choreographer, Intimacy Choreographer, Educator, and Performer.
This workshop is an immersive exploration of body autonomy, ownership, and liberation through dance and collaborative choreography. Drawing from principles of body liberation in dance, participants will engage in movement-based activities that empower them to honor their bodies as they are, establish personal boundaries, and create shared choreographic experiences rooted in trust and respect.
Through guided exercises and group discussions, participants will:
Discover Autonomy: Reflect on the concept of body ownership and develop a deeper connection with their own movements, celebrating their unique physical expressions.
Build Collaborative Space: Practice techniques for creating safe, consensual environments where choreographic ideas can be shared and developed collectively.
Liberate Movement: Challenge traditional norms in dance by embracing inclusivity and diverse body narratives, inspired by research on teaching body liberation in dance.
This workshop is ideal for dancers, choreographers, performers, and movement enthusiasts of all levels who wish to integrate body positivity, ethical intimacy, and collaboration into their practices. Wear comfortable attire and come ready to move, share, and co-create in a supportive and inspiring space.
