Gallery Launch and Exhibition | "Also Known As SlauCienega"
Context Projects cordially invites you to the gallery launch and inaugural exhibition, "Also Known As" SlauCienega, the photography of native Los Angeles visual artist Damien Carter at the Context Projects Gallery Saturday, October 14th.
The exhibition, on view through January 14th, 2024, marks Carter’s solo debut and is curated by Khalil Kinsey and Larry Earl. Carter’s work offers an up close and nuanced view of his hometown, capturing the gritty and glamorous essence of the city in a manner that defies erasure and exploitation. Carter, who grew up less than a mile from the gallery, is known for his broad scope of commercial work across multiple mediums, lending his keen eye to brands and companies such as Apple, Jordan Brand, Beats by Dre, NFL Network, Fox Sports, Adidas, and Footlocker. He has worked with a diverse array of talent such as Sha’Carri Richardson, Kanye West, Robert Glasper, Terrace Martin and Killer Mike, among others.
