More about ChiChai’s mural at Sarap Shop

Our transition from a food truck to a brick + mortar has been quite the adventure. There were multiple traumatic events in our construction period, causing delays in our opening of over 14 months.

There were many moments when we felt defeated and really had to think about the future of Sarap Shop. But our community would surprise us with messages of encouragement, reminding us to believe in ourselves.

Even though our space isn't exactly what we were hoping it would be by now, we're embracing that it's a work in progress... a living project where we can take our time to fill it with new memories and joy!

After coming out of construction purgatory, the first joyful gift we gave our new home was something we have always dreamed of — a mural! And by an artist we hella respect + admire ChiChai, a multi-disciplinary artist, educator, and community-gatherer.

Her mural is the first thing everyone sees when they first walk in. It's a reminder that all of us hold the keys to our own happiness. It's a reminder of what is possible when you surround yourself with people who believe in your ability to make your dreams come true. And that in our food fam, you'll never have to go at life alone.

In our new space, you'll always have someone dreaming with you, feeding you when your heart is aching, lighting candles to celebrate milestones big and small, filling the gaps in your potluck tables, fueling ideas daring to make our world better, and all the things in between.

We can't wait to see you there!
