Fundamentals Ep#1: Cap Tables 💰

​Since entering VC, we've both been fortunate to join funds that have invested in helping us learn what we didn’t yet know. Coming from different backgrounds (Ana from equity research and Freya from startups and NGOs) we found ourselves with different gaps in knowledge.

​There's no VC textbook, and what is done in practice is often case by case. So far, we've tried to learn by asking a lot of questions of our seniors, but we think there is a lot of value in bringing together different perspectives and learning through collaboration.

​​Our first session will be on CAP TABLES, led by Theo Whethered (Principal at Nauta) and Iulia Tudor (Partner at Ascension). They’ll break down with examples why is the cap table so important, common mistakes when modelling, impacts of ESOPs and CLNs, how the cap table evolves over time, effects of dilution and whether you fix a broken cap table.
