About Event

Geothermal energy is a massive strategic resource for decarbonization: it's a source of 24/7 renewable energy, its technical potential is nearly limitless anywhere on the planet, and we can harness it with many of the same skills and tools as we already use to produce oil and gas. So why is the geothermal industry still 1/1000th the size of the oil and gas industry, and how do we change that? In this talk, Michael Campos will cover the basics, some key technical and economic challenges, and why there’s never been a more exciting time to be a geothermal entrepreneur.

Our speaker this month is Michael Campos of Azolla Ventures (Prime Impact Fund) where he sources, dilligenes and manages investments. Michael was previously a Fellow at the Advanced Research Projects Agency – Energy (ARPA-E) in the U.S. Department of Energy, where he developed funding programs in advanced geothermal energy, proof-of-concept R&D within start-ups, and technology scale-up. He holds a Ph.D. from Columbia and B.A. from Northwestern in chemistry.

Following a 30 minute talk + Q&A, we’ll break out into smaller discussion groups for the awesome folks in the community to meet each other.

Friends are welcome! See y’all in glorious 2D.
