Tame Your Inner Critic: Self-Compassion for ADHD
If you live with ADHD, you know how quickly a tough day can spiral into harsh self-talk and lost motivation, even when things look fine on the outside. But there are science-backed ways to change that inner narrative and support yourself when things get messy.
Join Shift Collab ADHD therapy expert Sarah Innes for an interactive workshop on self-compassion as a practical tool for managing ADHD-related shame, overwhelm, and burnout. You’ll leave with simple strategies like reset phrases, supportive self-talk, and grounding techniques you can use right away.
This session is especially for high-achievers who set high standards for themselves but quietly struggle with self-doubt or burnout when things do not go as planned. You are not alone, and you do not have to figure it out the hard way.
During the one hour workshop, we’ll dive into:
Why ADHDers are more prone to self-criticism and internalized shame
How self-compassion supports executive function and emotion regulation
The difference between real self-compassion and just “letting yourself off the hook”
Tools you can use on the fly: reset phrases, grounding practices, and ways to reframe your inner dialogue
A guided exercise to help turn your inner critic into a supportive inner coach
How to build your own self-compassion toolkit for real-world stress moments
It’s all happening on Wednesday, August 6th at 7 PM ET. And yes, it’s totally free! Whether you’re a current Shift client or just Shift-curious, this is a space for you.
