INITIAL M - SIM RACING CHAMPIONSHIP

"THE FIRST ENDURANCE RACE IN SARAWAK"

This instalment of Inital M Endurance Edition marks Metadise Sim Racing's first endurance competition. Organising an endurance race aims to build a SIM Racing community and place MSR at the centre of this community.

1.0 Introduction

1.1 Objective

This rulebook outlines a unified set of guidelines and regulations for the racing sim esports

tournament, promoting fair competition and a seamless experience for all participants.

2.0 Competition Format

2.1 Game/Simulator

This tournament will take place on the rFactor 2 game.

2.1 Format

  • Qualifying Round: A 30-minute Time Attack Challenge for 1 person from each team that will determine the starting position for Race Day.

  • Race: A 1-hour Endurance Race will be conducted with 2 different tracks. Please be reminded that the maximum driving time for 1 person is 50% of race time with 1 mandatory pit stop for driver change.

2.2 Schedule

  • Match Date and Time: Matches will be planned and announced ahead of the tournament. Teams are required to be available at their designated time.

3.0 Team Composition

3.1 Rosters

  • Players: Each team must have 2 players on their roster.

  • Driver Changes: Driver changes are only allowed during the mandatory pit stop. Driver changes are MANDATORY.

  • Team: Each team must submit their team with a TEAM NAME.

4.0 Match Rules

4.1 Track & Car Selection

  • Track(s): The tournament will use a specific track that are predetermined by the organizers.

4.2 In-Game Settings

Settings: All matches will use the following settings unless otherwise specified.

  • Mode: The tournament will be played in standard competitive mode.

  • Car setups will be fixed.

  • Weather & track condition will be set to dry.

  • 1 time attack track will be set in TBA.

  • Damage will be set to 70% in game.

  • Tyre wear will be set to on.

  • Racing line is optional.

  • Gearbox will be set to manual.

  • FFB and button controls will be preset by organizers and cannot be changed.

  • Track limit points set to 10.

  • PIT STOP will be manual.

4.3 Match Procedure

  • Practice: Each team may have a practice session before the actual match commences.

4.4 Match Format

List of Event:

i) Time Attack (17th May 2025)

  • Open for everyone to join (free entries)

  • A Time Attack Challenge will be taking place and the average time of 2 drivers for each team will be taken as qualifying time with a maximum of 2 attempts. Only Top 7 teams with fastest average time will qualify for the race day and the time taken will determine their starting position on race day respectively.

ii) Race Day (18th May 2025)

  • An Endurance Race will be conducted with 3 different tracks. Please be reminded that the maximum driving time for 1 person is 50% of race time with 1 mandatory pit stop for driver change.

5.0 Racing Rules as stated below:

5.1 Starting Procedure

  • All races will be standing start, with 1 full formation lap.

  • Jump starts will result in an automatic penalty by the game software.

  • All cars must be in a single file throughout the entire formation lap.

  • Excessive braking is not allowed.

  • Excessive weaving is permitted, but drivers must be extra careful. Any incidents in the formation lap will result in penalties as per the normal race.

5.2 On-track behaviour

  • Only 1 move before the braking zone is allowed for defending.

  • All cars must be in single file throughout the entire formation lap.

  • No excessive weaving allowed.

  • Decisions on racing etiquette made by the race director are final.

5.3 On-site behaviour

  • Drivers must always wear shoes. They can take off their shoes while racing but must at least wear socks.

  • No inappropriate attire is allowed.

  • Gloves will not be provided; participants will have to bring their own gloves if they choose to wear gloves.

5.4 Track limits

  • Any track limits will be decided by the software. Stewards cannot overrule the decision of the game.

  • Track limit points will be set to 10.

  • If there are problems with the track limits, the stewards can decide to turn off the track limits and enforce it themselves at the event.

5.5 Equipment & Setup

  • Provided Equipment: The tournament organizers will provide all necessary equipment, including PCs, sim racing gear, monitors, keyboards, mouse, and headsets.

  • Personal Equipment: Personal peripherals may be used if approved by the organizers.

5.6 Match Locale

  • Setup: Matches will take place in assigned areas using equipment provided by the organizers. Players are required to follow the setup and abide by the rules set by the tournament staff.

5.7 Technical Support

  • Connection: If the game disconnect/crash occurs, the game can be paused and then resumed. Should a player disconnect, the match may continue if the player connects within a designated time limit. However, please be reminded that there will be a few laps down as this will be considered as an engine failure in real-world racing.

  • Issues: Organizers will offer technical support for problems directly related to the tournament infrastructure. Players are responsible for handling their own hardware and connectivity issues.

6.0 Penalties

6.1 The Race Director will view incidents and hand out penalties during the race. Below are the penalties that a steward may hand out during the event:

6.2 Penalty Appeals

  • An appeal must be made within 10 minutes of the end of the race.

  • The stewards will review and decide to uphold or overturn penalties.

7.0 Prizes & Awards

7.1 Prize Pool

Prize Distribution:

1st Place - RM 1000 cash + Trophy + Certificate

2nd Place - RM 500 cash + Silver Medal + Certificate

3rd Place - RM 300 cash + Bronze Medal + Certificate

4th Place - RM 200 + Certificate

5th Place - RM 50 + Certificate

8.0 Amendments

8.1 Rules Amendments

  • Updates: The tournament organizers retain the authority to modify these rules at any

time. Any updates will be communicated to participants prior to the tournament.

8.2 Final Authority

  • Rights: The tournament organizers hold the final say in interpreting these rules and

resolving any disputes or issues that may occur.
