About Event

How to increase engagement, build trust and foster deep connections - without cringe-worthy iceBREAKERS?

We've all been victims of icebreakers gone wrong. Activities that are meant to be fun and bonding, but instead, feel forced, awkward, and are just moving way too fast for our introverted friends. Too often, the ice is "broken" without consent from the participants, leaving them feeling uncomfortable rather than connected.

Imagine if icebreakers could be more than just silly games but actually serve as meaningful tools to 'melt the ice' and create genuine connections.

Through this workshop, you'll learn how to get buy-in even from the toughest crowds, from classrooms to “boredrooms” and leave with strategies to build engagement, trust and connections gradually.

By the end, you'll

  • Understand why the top icebreaker activities fail

  • Know how to choose the right activity (every time)

  • Learn how to get buy-in from skeptical groups

Plus, you'll walk away with my top 3 Ice Melter Activities from my upcoming book Ice Melters.

Who is this for?

This workshop is designed for empathetic leaders who are responsible for guiding groups and nurturing team spirit. If you are a facilitator, instructor, educator, consultant, group coach, team leader, or manager, then this workshop is for you!

It's especially useful for those early in their careers or those left wondering why their icebreakers aren't hitting the mark. But don't worry; we've all been there. This is a brave space to learn, grow, and facilitate truly connecting experiences.

Who is leading this session?

Jan Keck is a trainer, facilitator and experience designer.

He is driven by a simple belief: real, deep connection beats small talk - every single time.

There’s nothing that breaks his heart more than witnessing individuals trapped in awkward icebreakers, feeling more isolated despite being in a group.

He's been lucky enough to share his ideas through a TEDx talk and be featured on platforms like CBC News, Breakfast TV, and HuffPost, but for Jan, the real success is in the stories people share about the deep connections they've made. What he enjoys most is seeing those lightbulb moments when strangers realize they’re not alone.

During the pandemic, Jan has taught thousands of trainers, facilitators and educators how to recreate the “magic” of in-person gatherings online and turn the dreaded Zoom fatigue on its head.

Now, he is channelling his insights and experiences into writing his first book, "Ice Melters,” where he advocates to ditch traditional icebreakers and shares his framework to increase engagement, build trust and foster deep connections - without making people cringe.

I hope you’ll join him on his mission to help people feel less alone and fuel the movement for deeper human connection.

What will it be like?

Be ready to participate! This workshop is a highly participatory session. We will be using live polling, breakout rooms, and reflection questions to get everyone engaged and participating.

No late arrivals. The workshop will start on time, and we will close the door after 10 minutes to ensure a cohesive learning experience for the group.

The session will be recorded and shared as a self-paced online course. The recording will be focused on the main room, and no breakout conversations will be recorded.

This workshop is sponsored by mmhmm, which allows me to offer it for free to you.
