About Event

Progress in AI has been stellar and does not seem to slow down. If we continue at this pace, human-level AI with its existential risks may be a reality sooner than many realize.

At the AI Action Summit, risks and opportunities of AI will be discussed by policymakers from around the world. However, AI Safety, or how to make sure we do not lose control over this powerful technology, remains relatively unadressed.

In this debate, we are delighted to be joined by the world's most cited AI researcher and Turing Award winner professor Yoshua Bengio! We will discuss what the risks of AI are and what can be done about them.

Our speakers are:

Keynote:

Yoshua Bengio is professor at the University of Montreal (MILA institute). He is recipient of the Turing Award and generally considered one of the fathers of AI. He is also globally the most cited AI scientist and the most cited computer scientist.

Panel:

Billy Perrigo is tech correspondent at TIME magazine. His leading reporting has included everything from interviews with AI CEOs to working conditions of Kenyan AI workers.
Kenneth Cukier is deputy executive editor at The Economist and coauthor of bestselling books "Big Data" and "Framers". He is also a member of the Council on Foreign Relations.
Jaan Tallinn is cofounder of Skype, CSER, and FLI, investor in DeepMind and Anthropic, and a leading voice in AI Safety.
Emma Verhoeff is Team Lead New Technologies of the Security Policy Department at the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Otto Barten, director of the Existential Risk Observatory, will be your host, and David Wood, chair of the London Futurists, will be our moderator.

We are looking forward to welcoming you!
