EDGE AI Japan Symposium
Japan is a global leader in intelligent systems and engineering, excelling in robotics, automotive technologies, automation, and embedded intelligence. It is home to major industry players such as Renesas Electronics, Sony, Panasonic, Rakuten, Nissan, Toshiba, Mitsubishi, NTT, Toyota, and Hitachi. However, a gap exists between this industrial strength and the development of the edge AI community in Japan. The approach to edge AI in Japan differs from regions like the EU and the US.
This interactive event aims to bridge this gap by providing a focused entry point into the global edge AI community. It will explore local practices and identify how Japan’s capabilities align with decentralised, embedded AI systems, fostering collaboration between Japan and international stakeholders.
Objectives
Understand the current state of edge AI in Japan
Explore how Japan’s capabilities align with international practices
Foster collaboration between Japan and global stakeholders
Drive progress in edge AI research and innovation
The event will bring together technical experts, researchers, and industry leaders from Japan, the UK, the EU, and beyond. Attendees will share insights,, and identify joint actions for further collaboration, leading to deeper cooperation, consortium and community building, and research in edge AI.
The event is partially funded by the EPSRC Pro2 network to promote UK-international collaboration in edge AI and prototyping embedded systems for edge AI
Contact Professor Eiman Kanjo (Eiman.kanjo@ntu.ac.uk) if interested in participating from the UK.
