About Event

Join CLF DC Hub on May 1 to chat about "Embodied Carbon 101 for the Built Environment"!

Our fantastic speakers, Melanie Goerke, Michael Cropper, and Joe Andracchio will walk us through embodied carbon basics and speak to how we can be more aware of its impact on the built environment.

Melanie Goerke, LEED AP BD+C, WELL AP, LFA, is a Senior Sustainability Specialist at Page Southerland Page, a top architecture and engineering firm. Prior to her role at Page, she spent nearly 4 years at HITT Contracting as a Sustainability Manager. Her industry expertise spans nearly a decade and includes projects of all types and sizes and she has a special place in her heart for construction and development. Melanie has a Bachelor of Science in Construction Management from Michigan State University, a Master of Professional Studies in Urban Planning from Georgetown University, and is currently in her second year at the University of Virginia Darden School of Business.

Michael Cropper, PE, LEED AP, is a Principal at Thornton Tomasetti, a top structural engineering firm. Michael has spent nearly his entire career at TT, and previously led TT's Embodied Carbon Community of Practice. He has over 17 years of industry experience designing structures of all sizes all over the world. Michael has a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from North Carolina State University and a Master of Science in Structural Engineering also from NCSU.

Joe Andracchio, PE is a Principal Mechanical Engineer at Steven Winter Associates, a leading sustainability and engineering consulting firm. Joe has spent the last 9 years at SWA, specializing in mid-rise buildings with an emphasis on residential construction. He is an expert in all things mechanical engineering and efficiency, NBGS and serves as a LEED for Homes Green Rater. Joe has a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering and Mechanics from Drexel University, and a Master of Science in Sustainable Design from Philadelphia University.

We'll have some time towards the end of the hour reserved for Q&A, so bring your curiosity (and maybe a friend or two), and get excited to connect with others who care about building a better future!
