FAQs (PLEASE READ!)

  1. Is this a hacker HOUSE?

    • No. We are an experiment in decentralized coliving during conference weeks such as DevCon. We're just matchmaking people who are still looking for a stay during DevCon (check the available stays here)
We don't have a hackathon. We don't vet people based on their technical skills.
Anyone can be a cohabitant in Hacker Hotel as long as they're a good human :)

  2. Is Hacker Hotel free?

    • The Hacker Havens (the stays) are not free stays. If you're looking for a stay during and after DevCon, with us - you stay with other DevCon goers at authentic Thai coliving villas instead of strangers in a hostel or alone in a hotel.
The Playground (the activities) are either free or paid on the spot to the local vendors hosting the activities.

  3. What's the cost of stays?

    • The prices are very affordable, from $25/night for shared coliving (hostel style), to $60/night for private coliving (think hotel/apartment room with access to the shared areas pool, bar, coworking area, etc.). Check the stays here.

  4. Are you guys making profit from this?

    • No. We're not charging extra for accommodation. We negotiated directly with venue owners to cut down middleman costs and get the best value for money. We're simply diving the cost by the number of cohabitants in the villas, can't be more fair then that.
This experiment is a non-profit one, to prove coliving amongst conference goers is a viable option during conference weeks when cost of stay tends to skyrocketed, pricing out many to stay near the conference itself. If the experiment proves viable, we will scale, seek funding, and offer subsidize and free stays for upcoming ones.

Who are the organizers?

We're an independent team of longtime Ethereum ecosystem contributors, conference goers, and world travelers. We teamed up together to help conference goers (especially first timers) make the most out of their DevCon SEA Week, find like-minded and value-aligned people to network, make friends and experience the beauty of Bangkok and Thailand during their stay in November! 🪷
