Paul Ricci - former Chairman and CEO of Nuance

Paul Ricci retired as Chairman and CEO of Nuance in 2018, roles in which he served for nearly two decades. While at Nuance, Paul transformed the company from a $50 million imaging software publisher into a $2 billion

leading provider of conversational speech and AI solutions, solving complex problems in healthcare, telecommunications, automotive and financial services, with 14,000 employees worldwide. Under Paul’s leadership, Nuance developed a healthcare technology business of $1 billion in annual revenue, created a $500 million global provider of customer self-service solutions and built one of the world’s largest automotive software businesses, now an independent public company, Cerence (NASDAQ: CRNC).

More recently, Paul has served as an advisor to Lightspeed Venture Partners and to Warburg Pincus. He has also served on the boards of Personalis, Qualifacts, Intelligent Medical Objects, SOC Telemed and the Innovation Advisory Board of Mass General Brigham.

Paul holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Stanford University, where he is on the board of the Center for Advanced Studies in the Behavioral Sciences.

Sam Liang - Founder and CEO at Otter.ai

Sam Liang is the Founder and CEO of Otter.ai, based in Mountain View. With over 1B meetings transcribed, Otter.ai is the world’s leading tool for meeting transcription, summarization, and collaboration. Using artificial intelligence, Otter generates real-time automated meeting notes, summaries, and other insights from in-person and virtual meetings - turning meetings into accessible, collaborative, and actionable data that can be shared across teams and organizations. The company is backed by early investors in Google, DeepMind, Zoom, and Tesla. Otter is recognized by The WSJ as one of the Top 10 Generative AI Apps in June 2023.

Previously, Sam was the Co-Founder and CEO of Alohar Mobile Inc. which created the world's first mobile location context platform. Alohar was later successfully acquired by Alibaba. Before that, Sam was the lead of Google Map Location Platform & API for four years.

Sam got his Ph.D in EE from Stanford University, specializing in large scale distributed Internet systems. Sam has over 20 patents.

Edith Yeung - General Partner at Race Capital and event organizer and host 

Edith Yeung is a General Partner at Race Capital - an early-stage Silicon Valley venture capital fund investing in all things infrastructure. Edith is the seed investor in Solana (has been dubbed one of the best venture investments of all time), Lightning Network, Agora.io, Placer.ai, RapidAPI, and 60 other amazing startups. 

Prior to Race Capital, Edith was a partner at 500 Startups, the world's most active early-stage fund and incubator which invested in Twilio, Credit Karma, Grab, and 2000 more companies.

Before 500, Edith was the general manager at Dolphin Browser, a Sequoia Capital - backed mobile browser with over 150 million installs worldwide. Edith also worked with many Fortune 500 companies such as Siebel, AMS, AT&T Wireless, and Autodesk. She frequently speaks on venture capital, women in leadership, China and Silicon Valley technology and investment landscape. She is also a frequent guest lecturer at Berkeley and Stanford and commentator on BBC, CNBC, Wall Street Journal, Bloomberg, SCMP, Techcrunch, The Information, etc.
