About Event

Join us for a powerful FREE evening of hope, connection, and education at "Hope in the Darkness," a suicide awareness and prevention event dedicated to fostering a supportive community and breaking the silence around mental health struggles.

If you would like to receive a Certificate of Participation, a $5 donation is encouraged.

You can donate here: PayPal Link.

This event will feature inspiring keynote speakers who have overcome personal battles, mental health professionals sharing vital resources, and interactive workshops aimed at providing attendees with practical tools to support themselves and others.

We’ll also hold a candlelight vigil to honor the lives lost to suicide and to express our collective commitment to mental wellness.

Whether you have been personally affected by suicide, are looking for ways to support loved ones, or simply want to be part of a community that cares, "Hope in the Darkness" is a space for all to come together, learn, and heal.

Let’s shine a light on this important issue and work together to create a future where no one feels alone in their darkest moments.

Chachie is an Ilokano immigrant from Laoag City, Philippines, settling in the Kanaka Oiwi space also known as Honolulu, Hawaii. She is passionate about Philippine sociolinguistic, Philippine psychology, and folklore history.

She is the founder and creative director behind KasamahanCo and the chairperson for Filipino Mental Health Initiative in Hawaii. In her free time, she writes poetry, takes photography, and volunteers her time with the community.

Cheryl is a passionate mental health advocate from the Philippines, deeply motivated by her lived experience and over seven years of therapy. She volunteers as a counselor with UGAT Foundation and is CPD-certified in Dialectical Behavior Therapy, equipping her to provide compassionate support.

She manages the Instagram page @cheryl.mentalhealthadv, sharing mental health education, personal stories, coping strategies, and offering personalized referrals to connect individuals with mental health professionals. Her platform also provides peer support, creating a safe space for open discussions about mental health.

Cheryl's advocacy is rooted in her journey as a survivor of multiple mental illnesses, driving her to bridge the gap in mental health awareness in the Philippines. Her mission is to normalize conversations around mental well-being, reduce stigma, and ensure that others have access to the resources and support they need.
