About Event

Imagine starting 2024 with a revolutionary approach to achieving your deepest desires and goals. This is your chance with Brown Girl Magazine's exclusive workshop Reframe Your Mindset workshop —led by Mona Patel, the force behind the acclaimed book 'Reframe: Shift the Way You Work, Innovate, and Think,' which offers a technique to help people unlock their creativity and generate brilliant ideas.

On Wednesday, February 7th at 6PM, Mona, known for her transformative work with global giants like Nike and Facebook, will guide you through an immersive experience in design thinking methodology.

You'll tackle your own real-life examples with her trademarked reframe process, and experience for yourself how to shift the way you think and unlock opportunities where once things felt frustrating, stagnant and un-motivating.

WHAT TO EXPECT:

During the "Reframe Your Mindset" workshop, you'll delve into practical and transformative experiences:

+ Identify and Overcome Blindspots: Uncover hidden biases and barriers in your thinking. We'll tackle those areas where you're stuck, personal or professional.
+ Develop New Perspectives: Learn how to view challenges from different angles, opening up new solutions and opportunities.
+ Personalized Reframe: A possibility of a solution at the very least for your specific challenge, which also gives you that hope and encouragement you sometimes need to tackle a problem differently.
+ Enhanced Problem-Solving Skills: A new toolkit to approach difficulties creatively and effectively, turning obstacles into stepping stones, that you can use anytime, anywhere to get unstuck.

AN EXAMPLE:

In one session, Ben shared his struggles with being the primary caregiver for his aging father. Despite a challenging past relationship, Ben found himself often burdened with the responsibility, feeling overwhelmed by his aging father's repetitive and self-centered conversations.

He had his own life changes, including a recent major weight loss surgery, and felt guilty about wanting time for himself to date and explore life while his father waited alone.

During the session, 'what ifs' from other participants prompted Ben to look at his situation from different angles. Suggestions like, 'What if you set boundaries with the time you spend with your father?' and 'What if your niece and nephew spent more time with him?' encouraged him to consider redistributing caregiving responsibilities.

A particularly resonant 'what if' was, 'What if you record your father's stories as a way to engage differently with him?' This idea led Ben to a powerful realization – maybe there was a business here, connecting his father with other fathers who also felt lonely and needed companionship.

The session became a turning point for Ben, helping him understand that while he couldn't change his father, he could shift from something happening to him to something happening for him to create from.

This realization brought a sense of relief and opened up new possibilities for managing his relationship with his father while balancing his own needs.

The same realization Ben encountered is what you can expect from our workshop.
