About Event

This talk will offer a stroll through projects and practices from San Francisco’s Exploratorium, as well as other creative work. Along the way, Tom Rockwell, Creative Director, will reflect on how we seek to facilitate authentic moments of inquiry, experiment with different forms of immersivity, and—maybe, if we’re lucky—set the stage for meaningful, life-changing moments. Drawing on his 20 years of experience in experience design at the Exploratorium, as well as work in other science museums, playgrounds, and somatic practices, Tom will share insights into what it takes to create spaces that invite curiosity and reflection. The talk will conclude with some musings on what the future of meaning-rich, contemplative spaces might look like at this point in history.

Join us Wednesday, June 18 for a live presentation from Tom, followed by a Q&A.
