Words and Worlds: Shaping Immersive Experiences with Matt Earp, Meta Reality Labs
To understand what the metaverse is (let alone build it), humans need to pull in inspiration from across fiction, modern culture, all kinds of technology, and from every corner of design. This talk draws back the curtain on how these ideas come to life in the language and concepts of Meta Horizon, Meta’s social, spatial operating system and immersive experience for VR and mobile.
As a Horizon designer, Matt pulls in insights from music, event production, writing, science fiction, and mindfulness, showing how the words we choose shape the worlds we build. Even when those worlds don’t quite exist yet.
