About Event

Come celebrate the launch of PowerLines, a new nonprofit aiming to modernize utility regulation to bring affordable, reliable, and clean energy to American consumers. Learn about the 200 people that oversee $200 billion in utility spending, what these public utilities commissioners do, and why you should pay attention to them if you care about your energy bills or the future of clean energy.

Join PowerLines for a conversation on how utility regulation (sounds wonky, we know!) can be modernized to accelerate an affordable and equitable clean energy transition, and what role you and your organization can play in supporting this mission. Utility companies are monopolies and therefore need effective regulators to keep an eye out for your interests. Oftentimes, these bodies make decisions about how much you pay for your electricity or how much your utility invests in clean energy without much public input. We get it -- utility regulation sounds technical enough to deter most people from getting involved, but most people don't know the impact that their input could have. This session aims to demystify all of that.

At this launch event, hear from energy and climate experts from UCLA, Patagonia, and Sierra Club about how policy and regulation can advance clean energy and energy justice for communities in addition to the role you can play in supporting these efforts.

This event will include an hour-long panel discussion and audience Q&A, followed by a casual happy hour. We’re thrilled to have our public launch and invite you to learn and celebrate with us.
