Topic: Discussion on founder led sales
Where: Virtually on Zoom
When: February 1st from 4-5pm PST
Who: Just Race Capital founders hosted by Emmanuel Turlay (Semantic, YC) and Johnny Dallas (Zeet, Sequoia)

Why: A lot of our founders are in similar situations focusing on sales ($1-$2M ARR before series A) and do not have a dedicated sales team. We are hosting a discussion amogst our founders in similar situations to pull out the best practices, and tops from other founders on how to go about this. 

Will be an emphasis for B2B, Enterprise, Open Source, Developer focus type companies. 

Questions from Attendees to discuss:

  • How much time should founders dedicate to sales?

  • How to deal with shrinking budgets? 

  • What kind of discounts should be given to early design partners? 

  • Companies cloud, vs their cloud, vs on-prem 

  • Best channels to reach prospective customers (linkedin, twitter, personal connections)

  • When should you hire a dedicated salesperson / SDR onto the team? 

  • What to track to know if sales are going well? Benchmarks for early stage pre-PMF companies? 

  • At what point do you know if you should be more aggressive about sales?

  • What tools to use? (e.g. CRMs, Apollo.io, drip campaigns, events, meetups, etc.)
