Health Fair: For Peace Restoration (Memphis)
NEW MOON was originally founded as a peacekeeping organization developing events in Israel. Our hearts break due to the tragedy occurring there now. Because of our direct ties to midwives & medical organizations in the area we are doing everything we can to support emergency response efforts, diplomacy, and the press as they work diligently to maintain visibility during this perilous time.
No one should have to live in fear of a violent death. Today children in Israel/Gaza are experiencing this level of trauma, mothers are also being forced to give birth under duress in strangers homes, these are inhumane conditions and this is an unacceptable travesty that needs to end. An unbelievable number of journalists and United Nations representatives have also been killed in service in Israel/Gaza during this last month damaging our ability to accurately record history as it unfolds. We can help repair this damage through strategic emergency response, reinforcing known routes for humanitarian aid, maintaining channels of communication and supporting reporting through press & service organizations. Our first priorities are: supporting channels for anonymous reporting and communications amongst journalists currently embedded or moving into embedded status, supporting access to medical care for childbirth & infants through our Midwives for Peace community, supporting additional safety and diplomacy by supporting communications between press & service communities including support for Red Cross & other service associates working towards the safe return of hostages, promoting the peaceful resolution of the conflict and the protection of all innocent civilian lives.
This August we are getting together in Memphis TN for a community health fair to raise awareness, show support, and raise funding for promoting peaceful alternatives and combatting racism.
Free yoga, tai chi, meditation, and sound therapy will be available to guests.
