Spencer Kimball is the co-founder and CEO of Cockroach Labs, the company behind CockroachDB, a globally distributed SQL database built for resilience and scalability. A UC Berkeley alumnus, he previously contributed to Google’s core infrastructure, including Colossus, and co-created GIMP, a widely used open-source graphics editor. With over two decades in distributed systems and cloud infrastructure, Spencer has helped shape how modern AI-driven and cloud-native companies build scalable, fault-tolerant architectures.
