Muse Salon Series 1: Meaning-Making
"In some ways suffering ceases to be suffering at the moment it finds a meaning, such as the meaning of a sacrifice." —Viktor Frankl, Holocaust survivor, psychologist
Are you thinking about how to imbue meaning into your life experiences? Or what choices you can make to live a more meaningful life? Join us for the kickoff of The Muse's salon series, where we gather our friends to discuss meaningful intellectual topics. Our first theme: meaning-making.
What To Expect:
Salons are an opportunity to engage in meaningful, intellectual discussions with your peers. Be prepared to show up mentally sharp and open to sharing your opinions and hearing other's. We'll all do some reading beforehand and show up ready to engage deeply and thoughtfully on this session's topic.
How To Prepare:
We'll all read this article ahead of time (~4 minute read). Come having eaten dinner, but we'll have light snacks, refreshments, and tea to facilitate discussion. Beyond that, just come in a headspace where you'll be able to meaningfully contribute to and benefit from the discussions!
Schedule:
7:30-8: Arrivals accepted. Come, settle in, drink tea, eat snacks, and chat. At 8, the container will close, and absolutely no one will be allowed to join the group.
8-8:15: Expectation setting, potentially split into groups.
8:15-9:15: Whole group or sub-group facilitated discussion.
9:15-9:20: Bio break.
9:20-9:30: Whole group closing discussion and takeaways.
9:30-late: People are welcome to stay, hang out, and chat. Please help the hosts clean up the space.
