19:30-20:30 Split into groups - For anyone who wants feedback on their work from others, or is happy to give feedback, we'll have a critique session. See details of how to take part below. Anyone who doesn't want to take part in this is welcome to stick around and continue their focused writing time.
20:30/21:00 Pub (not compulsory)
If you would like to share your work in the critique session, please put no more than 800 words in a Google Doc and email the link to alys.writer@gmail.com. This could be a whole piece, an extract from a longer work, a detailed outline or even a short pitch.
What is a critique session? This is a chance for writers to share work and get second opinions on the style, argument and readability. It can work in many ways, but usually a handful people will take turns reading their work out loud for the group, who write comments on a copy of the text and also give verbal feedback.
Co-hosted by Alys Key, writer of the UK 2.0 Newsletter, and IDEALondon, a flexible workspace and innovation hub powered by UCL Engineering and WilbeLAB
The London Generalists' Writing Group is a new writing group for people working in tech, policy, academia, media etc., with a focus on non-fiction writing.
This is a space for anyone who wants to write more or better work about their interests and expertise. Whether it's levelling up your company storytelling as a founder or turning your policy research into a readable Substack post, come and chat to fellow writers and get some work done.
