2025 PROCON: HSC Economics (Hornsby)
What’s PROCON?
PROCON holiday courses are designed to accelerate into new HSC material, to give you a flying head start to Term 1. Keeping up with the course will ensure your foundation is solid while getting you comfortable on topics ahead. Project Academy’s overarching aim is for all its students to achieve a high Band 6 in all subjects in the HSC. PROCON is the very first element of this plan.
What You'll Be Learning
In a single day, we will tackle some of the most important concepts of HSC Economics. Students will learn about Topic 1 content pertaining to syllabus dot points: The global economy, Gross world product, Differences between economic growth and economic development, Income and quality of life indicators, Case study (China has been chosen as the economy of interest), Methods of protection and the effects of protectionist policies on the domestic and global economy (Tariffs, Subsidies and Quotas). Students will also learn how to apply key exam techniques from the best educators in the state to smash HSC and Trial Topic 1 Questions.

Section 2: Measuring economic progress (35 mins)
Break #2: 10 mins (Q/A can occur in this time)
Section 3: Methods of protection (70 minutes)
Section 4: Application of content through practising past HSC questions (20 mins)
Who You'll Learn From
Matt O'Dea
Matt is the Head of Economics at Project Academy. Matt graduated from St Ignatius College Riverview with a 99.85 ATAR and TWO state ranks. He achieved a 95 in Economics, 95 in Business Studies, 95 in English Advanced and 98 in 2U Maths. Matt is known for his engaging teaching style and breadth of knowledge. He is currently studying a Bachelors of Commerce and Software Engineering at UNSW.
Nicole Kitrungrot
Nicole graduated with a state rank in Business Studies and an ATAR of 99.05. Known for her depth of knowledge and highly effective teaching style, she is loved by many students at Project Academy. She is currently completing a bachelors degree at university.
Nicole Chau
Nicole graduated 1st in Economics (95) from Girraween School and studies a Bachelors of Economics at the USYD. Known for her high energy, engaging classes, she is one of Project Academy’s top Economics tutors.
