ABOUT THE EVENT
"Interest in femtech has seen a significant rise in the past few years, with VC investment reaching over $1 billion in 2022. Although femtech represents just 2% of all healthtech investment, Dealroom reported that in 2023 femtech companies are now worth upwards of $28 billion, a clear indication that this is a booming industry with potential. Current forecasts predict that this rapidly growing industry will be worth $103 billion by the end of 2030.

It was not until 1993 that women started being included in clinical research trials for new medications, meaning that until recently, there was a huge gap in knowledge of female physiology and the effects of medications on the female body.

According to studies that analyzed the effect of drugs on men and women, women experienced stronger side effects than men in more than 90% of case studies. So it’s no surprise that research on women’s health has been growing rapidly in the past decade." (goingvc)

In partnership with Fenwick, join industry disrupters Alessandra Henderson (Co-founder of Elektra Health) and Aagya Mathur (Co-founder & CEO, Aavia) and industry investor Courtney Leimkuhler (Co-Founder and Managing Partner of Springbank Collective) for an in-depth discussion on redefining women's health care, spotting partnership opportunities, landing the right investors, and the future of the fem tech and women's health landscapes.

After this panel, moderated by Rebecca Minkoff (Co-Founder of Female Founder Collective), enjoy small bites, refreshments, and strategic networking with fellow high-growth founders.

ABOUT YOUR SPEAKERS

Aagya Mathur, Cofounder & CEO of Aavia, is driven by her personal and professional healthcare experiences to pioneer the path to improved female hormone cycle and condition management. Ovarian hormones impact quality of sleep, quality of muscle toning, mental health, risk of injury, energy level, and more, but 2.1B people around the world in their reproductive years don’t have credible education or tools to optimize their lives based on their hormones. Aavia is a science-backed daily women’s health app and data company that improves quality of life and facilitates faster clinical decision making. The Aavia app analyzes many inputs to predict what you will experience each day and accordingly provides personalized recommendations to optimize your good days and make your bad days better. With over 7 million data points, Aavia can flag various hormone conditions (e.g. PCOS, PMDD, etc.) that typically take 7-10 years to diagnose, in just 3-6 months, decreasing downstream conditions and costs.

Alessandra Henderson is the co-founder & board member of Elektra Health. Menopause. Half the population will experience it, and yet it remains under-researched, underfunded, and under-discussed. That’s where Alessandra Henderson and Elektra Health come in. With a mission to smash the menopause taboo, Elektra Health is a next-gen women’s health platform empowering women with evidence-based menopause education, virtual care, and a supportive community. It was her own personal health journey that showed Alessandra first-hand the importance of education surrounding hormonal health. While freezing her eggs in 2017, she realized her eyesight had changed as a side effect of the process. Alessandra wasted no time at all, founding Elektra Health in 2018. In addition to her own experience, Alessandra’s B.A. from Vanderbilt University and MBA from Sloan MIT help make her the perfect founder to build a platform geared toward modern women. Her mindset is focused on harnessing the power of the cultural moment to amplify the conversation around menopause, while taking advantage of a huge market opportunity.

Courtney Leimkuhler is the Co-Founder and Managing Partner of Springbank Collective, a venture capital firm investing in the new care economy, the future of inclusive work and the next wave of financial progress. Before founding Springbank, Courtney was the Chief Financial Officer of Marsh, the world’s leading corporate insurance broker with 35,000 employees in over 100 countries. Previously, Courtney spent a decade at the New York Stock Exchange from pre-IPO through the sale of the public company in 2013. She served as a member of the Management Committee and the Head of Corporate Strategy and M&A during a transformational period for the company and the global exchange industry. Courtney began her career at Goldman Sachs. Courtney serves as a board member or advisor to several companies including New Front, Dandi, Parento, Orchard, Faye, Coverwallet (sold to Aon in 2020), Betterment and Asta Capital.
