About Event

AI and LLMs are a new frontier in knowledge generation and synthesis. However, in what sense can we say that AI knows anything? And can we trust any knowledge claims made by, or on behalf, of AI?

This workshop will first outline a framework to help make sense of these questions based on a philosophical, structural comparison of human versus LLM information processing. You will then have the chance to test this framework and refine it with your preferred AI tools live in the workshop.

Dr Ryan Young is a consulting philosopher with Queritas who built research expertise in truth, language and knowledge well before LLMs turned these questions into critical ones for our future. You can find his philosophical writings, including on AI, at Humble Knowledge. He has also worked in and around government for many years.

AI CoLab events are intentionally open and collaborative. We capture photos, audio, and AI-generated transcripts so we can remix key insights for the AI CoLab Alliance community. This is always done in line with the Charter’s values; transparent, ethical innovation and knowledge sharing to accelerate collective learning (see join.aicolab.org). By participating in an AI CoLab event, you agree to your contributions being captured and shared in accordance with this policy.
