How to build a global health company, with Founder Manuri Gunawardena
If you google Manuri Gunawardena and do some digging, you’ll learn she came up with the idea for HealthMatch a few years ago.
Her hypothesis was that technology could educate patients about and match them with ongoing research into their health condition, and on the flip side, make it easier for researchers to fill their trials. In 2017, she built the first HealthMatch prototype, took it to TechCrunch’s Startup Battlefield Australia, and won her pitch.
In 2018, she raised $1.3 million, in 2019, she bagged $6 million, and just last year she closed a $18 million round. Today, HealthMatch is transforming the $1 billion Australian clinical trials industry, with more than 80,000 users on the platform.
That’s the ‘what’. But what you might not find on Google is the ‘how’.
