About Event

The Entrepreneurs Network is hosting an afternoon tea reception at the House of Lords on the role entrepreneurs should play in supporting the next generation of founders.

As the keynote speaker, James Wise, a Partner at Balderton Capitol and the author of the recently published book, The Start-Up Century, will be making the case that the best time to become an entrepreneur is now. Thanks to technological advances, the cost of launching a business has been decreasing constantly and the skills needed to become a founder are becoming more accessible.

Our research shows that entrepreneurship is best learned when it is witnessed. Most successful entrepreneurs worked for other top start-ups before launching their own businesses and the children of founders are more likely to become entrepreneurs.

Over half of young people in the UK have thought about starting a business, yet 70% wouldn’t know where to start. They need mentorship, guidance and the right network. That’s why founders of today may have the keys to unlock the enormous entrepreneurial potential of the next generation.

This reception, which will host founders, investors, academics, policymakers, and future entrepreneurs, is an opportunity to explore how entrepreneurship can be best encouraged – both culturally and with the help of policy.
