Fashion Revolution & Chill
On this day 11 years ago, an eight-story commercial garment factory in Savar Upazila, Bangladesh called Rana Plaza collapsed, taking with it 1,134 lives and injuring upwards of 2,500 people.
This event is to acknowledge the tragedy and move in solidarity with all garment workers, honoring the ongoing human and non-human lives harmed by the fast fashion industry.
It is also during Fashion Revolution Week and Earth Month.
____________
Agenda:
For the first half, we will have a casual, open clothing trade and for the second half, we will hold a climate café.
The climate crisis is also a mental health one. Climate cafés are listening circles to discuss our thoughts and feelings around the climate and social multi-crises in a warm, easeful space. There, we can allow ourselves to be witnessed and held in community, without judgement or needing to be anywhere other than where we are.
Free, vegan snacks and drinks will be provided.
____________
This is a collaboration between slow fashion champions Remake, Bodhisattvism, Fashion Revolution, and Project Ropa.
The venue host is the radical community space Haus of Liberation. Drinks are being provided by Marquis and snacks by FoodCycle LA.
____________
Bring your gently used clothes, trade with one another, make slow fashion friends, and share your feelings in a safe space together 💕
