👋 Oren Etzioni - is the founder of TrueMedia.org and the founding CEO of the Allen Institute for AI in Seattle. He has worked in artificial intelligence for much of his career and is a leading thinker in neural networks and Natural Language Processing. (UW professor emeritus at the University of Washington Allen School, Co-founder Farecast (sold to Microsoft in 2008) and Decide (sold to eBay in 2013), Geekwire “Geek of the Year”)
👋 State Senator Joe Nguyen - is a dynamic leader in both public service and the private sector. Elected to the Washington State Senate in 2019, Joe serves as the Chair of the Environment, Energy & Technology Committee and also serves as the Vice Chair of the budget-writing Ways & Means Committee. Senator Nguyen spearheaded the creation of Washington's first AI Task Force, positioning the state at the forefront of technology and public policy.
👋 Ryan Harkins - is Senior Director of Public Policy for Microsoft. In that role, he works on issues relating to technology and civil liberties, including state and federal privacy legislation, and the regulation of AI. A veteran of the company since 2007, Mr. Harkins has testified before a number of legislatures and is a frequent speaker at conferences and other events. He is a Non-Residential Fellow at Stanford’s Center for Internet and Society, and he serves as an Adjunct Professor at Seattle University School of Law, where he teaches courses on privacy law, freedom of expression, cybercrime and the Fourth Amendment, and voting rights and election law.
